Player Profiles
Brief description of players to be added
Paul is the main man behind the Chetwynd's success as a strong venue, organising a weekly DYP league so all players get a equal chance to compete, as well as the 2000 Nuneaton Open. Paul is venue representative and primary contact for any teams seeking to organise a challenge match.
On the table, Paul is a canny defender with a strong pull-shot series capable of finding those impenetrable gaps.
PAUL ADDISON, Nuneaton

CHRIS HADDON, Nuneaton

Chris has a strong all-round game in either position, with a wide range of well-executed shots, and a strong 5-bar to keep his attackers in business.
The front-pin is his main weapon, fast and accurate, but he can also deliver a blistering tic-tac pull kick/dink series when in the mood. Put in a strong doubles performance at the 2001 Oxford Open.
Roger's enthusiasm for the game is limitless, with quick reactions allied to accurate shots and dinks, capable of picking holes in the toughest defence.
ROGER HEALEY, Nuneaton

PAUL BARRETT, Tamworth

Paul is one of the Chetwynd's most dangerous forwards, with an effective 5-bar, and well-timed push-kicks and tic-tacs, with a disguised dink capable of nestling inside the post or between the despairing defenders.
Bill is a Tournament Soccer veteran, and it shows in his controlled passing game. His tic-tacs on the 3-bar are well-timed and devastatingly effective, with a strong 5-bar both offensively and defensively to feed the forwards the ammunition they need.
BILL ORMEROD, Tamworth

SULTAN KHAN, Birmingham

Sultan has a strong all-round game, to which he has recently returned after a long lay-off.
With a confident and effective 5-bar passing series, allied to a fast tic-tac or pull-shot attack, Sultan will make a formidable tournament opponent and is definitely capable of taking many semi-pro scalps before he joins their ranks.
Derek is a tough defender and a dangerous opponent. His miserly defence is capable of frustrating any opposing forward, and when he blocks and keeps the ball (which is most of the time) he unleashes a devastating array of moving push shots, pull shots and tic-tacs from the 2-bar, all hit with tremendous power and accuracy.
DEREK PARSONS, Nuneaton

MICK PARSONS

Another dangerous defender, Mick is renowned for his deceptive hesitation push-shots and moving tic-tacs from the 2-bar, causing opposing teams (particularly the forwards) to tear their hair out in despair.
Quick reactions and devious tic-tac shooting make Adie an opponent or team-mate to be reckoned with.
ADIE PARSONS, Nuneaton

TOM O'CONNOR

Tom is an enthusiastic player with a range of shots to take you by surprise, and a deceptively effective defence with the knack of being in the right place at just the right time.

“El Capitan” John is an unstoppable, God-like player with a mastery of every shot ever seen, and a few only he is capable of doing. In between beating the world and her mother at table football John also does lots of charity work and is the top judge on Miss World. He also like to spend time with his flying pigs……
John is an all rounder – more often found in attack, but equally at home in defence. His snake and tap-bangs are legendary for both speed and accuracy… The snake hits the crossbar and the tap bang goes in the middle of the goal every time. He also has useful dinks and a range of pin shots. One day he’ll get passes from the 5-bar so he can use them!
John is one of the flair players at Oxford (now moved to Birmingham - as has this profile!) and is mastering the back-pin snake (illegal ? - ed) and aerial shot from defence (yet to be independently verified - ed). His love of the game and not the winning have lead him to captain the uni team this year (2002-3)… his sense of humour means he still plays with Dave Morgan as his regular partner.
Regular Haunts: Purple Turtle, Oxford; Temple Bar, Oxford
Ranking status: Tornado Semi-Pro, Garlando Semi-Pro

JOHN WORTHINGTON, Birmingham

STEVE HADDON

A devilish defender with a mean series of pulls from the back. Steve is a consistent scorer and good shot blocker too, a player that makes an attacker secure. He has played on the national scene to good results with his brother Chris, particularly at Reading 2003.
