Official Player of the Year Rankings for UK Championship-Eligible Players

It has been decided that the Player of the Year (POY) Rankings listed here are to be amended to generate rankings for players eligible for the UK Championships in July (details to be finalised soon), in order to decide automatic qualification criteria for the Championship Singles, Championship Doubles and Women's Singles events.

The UK Championships will also include Women's Doubles, Senior Singles and Senior Doubles events, into which any eligible UK player may enter. I.e. qualification is not necessary.

The winners of the above events will qualify as the UK representatives for the ITSF World Championships in Italy in October.

Automatic Qualification

In order to qualify automatically for Championship Singles, players must finish in the top 16 of the Open Singles ranking list, or have been one of the top 3 UK players in a ranking Open Singles event.

Similarly, for Championship Doubles, players must finish in the top 16 of the Open Doubles ranking list, or have been a member of one of the top 3 UK-only teams in a ranking Open Doubles event.

For Women's Singles, players must finish in the top 8 of the Women's Singles ranking list, or have been the highest placed UK player in a ranking Women's Singles event.

Automatic qualifiers will have free entry into the event for which they have qualified. Additional qualifying events for Championship Singles and Championship Doubles will be held at the Championships, for which all UK players are eligible. Entry fees will apply for these qualification events.

Points Allocation

In order to allocate points to each UK entrant in a ranking Open Singles, Open Doubles or Women's Singles event, teams containing only foreign players are removed, and each team's final position is adjusted accordingly.

UK members of the remaining teams are then allocated points dependent on their adjusted final position in the event and the size of the chart (number of remaining teams), according to the BFA Garlando Ranking System, available here.

The Open Singles, Open Doubles and Women's Singles POY lists will be updated after each tournament.

Tournaments that have counted toward the current list are:

• UK Masters - Tornado
• Holywell Open I - Garlando
• Manchester Tornado Open - Tornado
• Liverpool Open - Garlando

Future tournaments that will provisionally count towards the list are:

• Holywell Open II - Garlando
• Oxford Open IX - Garlando
• Hereford Tornado Open II - Tornado
• Spring Floatel - Tornado
