British Foosball Association
Match Reports - Worthington Cup Table Football Tournament
8th February 2003
By Brian Harms
Forget the Man U v Liverpool, the real Worthington Cup final (foosball version) was between
Arsenal (Tom - Season ticket holder and Brian - on loan from Newcastle) and Crystal Palace,
with Arsenal winning.
32 pairs representing league clubs took part on two new square feet
Garlandos and one 1950's Rene Pierre (excellent condition for a musuem piece using
white Garlando balls not the cork ones).
There were some pairs from outside the area but mainly it was locals having
some fun. The actual Worthington Cup was there and finalists got to be
photographed with it. The prize was two crates of Worthington beer which we
gave to the Pelyt FC organiser, Harvey Williams, as a contribution to the funds he
was raising.
We were expecting other BFA pairs but in the end it turned out
to be just the two of us - it was a fun weekend nontheless. Brian
